HR round questions that actually trip people up — and how to answer them

Difficulty★★☆☆☆
Everyone preps for "tell me about yourself" but freezes on the follow-ups. Listing the HR questions that catch freshers off guard, from drives at our college:
- "Why should we hire you over other candidates?" — needs a specific, role-linked answer, not "I'm hardworking."
- "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" — show ambition + commitment, avoid "in your manager's chair" jokes.
- "What do you know about our company?" — please research beyond the homepage. People fail here constantly.
- "Are you willing to relocate / do night shifts?" — be honest; saying yes and backing out later burns bridges.
- "Tell me about a time you failed." — pick a real, small failure + what you learned. Don't say "I've never failed."
- "Do you have any questions for us?" — always have 2 ready. "No" signals low interest.
