How I went from freezing in English to speaking in full sentences

For years I could read and write English fine but froze the moment I had to speak it. What finally helped:

  • Speaking daily, even alone. Describing my day out loud for 5 minutes. Awkward at first, normal within two weeks.
  • Recording myself. Hearing the gaps and filler words ("um", "basically") made me fix them.
  • Full sentences, not single words. Forcing complete sentences slowed me down and made me clearer.

Using the MockMate English course made this structured — each lesson gives a prompt and scores you. What worked for the rest of you?
